Revd Dr Kevin Bidwell was speaking at one of the Autumn lectures of The Christian Institute.
He focused on the Bible’s realism of suffering in the Christian life. He began by referring to Psalms 42-43 as an example of mourning and despairing and that this should encourage us to keep walking by faith, despite difficulties and opposition. Furthermore, he pointed out that some Christians in church history struggled with depressions, nevertheless they were greatly used by God. Additionally, he made clear distinctions between spiritual and clinical depressions, which must be considered carefully by every Christian.
